Dudley Got Out And Ran Some Errands Today ...

The first thing he did was go to the local municipal court building and take proof that Lizzie took her defensive driving class. Lizzie got a speeding ticket some time ago and Dudley made her pay the fine out of her money and pay for the defensive driving class. They dismissed the ticket which is good as it will keep the Insurance Rates from going up any more than they already have. Hopefully she has learned her lesson. Lizzie is still in Las Vegas at a world class resort living the life of leisure. Big Sis told Dudley she saw on the news that a tiger escaped from a magician in Vegas earlier today and was running the streets. The tiger was captured later in a residential area without incident. They reported it was a tame tiger if there is such a thing. After Dudley got through with the court, he went to the bank. Then it was on to the Barber Shop where Dudley got his ears lowered. While Dudley was in the chair getting his hair cut, a former two time world champion boxer came in. That was pretty cool, as it is not every day you get to meet someone of that caliber. After the haircut, Dudley went to a local pack and mail store to ship a package to a friend. J.T. bought a new muzzle loader rifle and is going to try to bag a deer with it this fall. The gun has iron sights and he was in need of a scope. Dudley happened to have an almost brand new two power scope designed for a shotgun or black powder rifle that was not being used. Dudley had bought the scope and put it on a single shot 20 gauge shotgun he had purchased for Frank when he was about 8 years old. He only shot the gun one time down at the farm. The gun kicked harder than Dudley anticipated it would with buckshot so the gun and scope were put away. A few years later Dudley had a recoil pad and muzzle brake put on his deer rifle and Frank killed his first deer with it at age 11 and has never deer hunted with any other gun. Hopefully J.T. can put this scope to good use, he will only need to buy a base and that should cost less than twenty dollars. After that, Dudley went by the Post Office to mail a letter then came back home. Time to get ready to watch the Ranger game. They won yesterday, hope they do the same tonight.

Lizzie Is On Her Way To Las Vegas Today ...

for a three day weekend. The friends she is staying with up in Seattle this summer go there several times a year. Lizzie is not old enough to play the slot machines but she will have a great time I know. She will be able to see the sights and eat a lot of great food. They are staying in one of the top end resorts in Vegas and Lizzie and Kate will spend most of their time in the swimming pool no doubt. They are also going to get to go see some of the shows and maybe do a little sight seeing. She said they may go out to see Hoover Dam. Hopefully she will take her camera and send Dudley some pictures when she gets back to Seattle. Lizzie will be coming home in less than two weeks. We all can't wait to see her, it seems like she has been gone forever.

area. They went to a nearby island and went hiking. They did not get to climb up to the top of the lighthouse because it had closed but they had a good time exploring the island. Dudley has always been fascinated by lighthouses. Dudley is pretty much a loner and in his next life would like to come back to an earlier time and be a lighthouse keeper on the coast somewhere. Anywhere as long as he could spend the majority of his time deer hunting and fishing. When he was not busy doing that, he could sit back, smoke a pipe, drink a beer and watch the dolphins and whales swim by and always keep the light shining bright to keep the five masted schooners away from the rocks and or sand bars. I think most lighthouses today are automated and the poor old lighthouse keepers are only a distant memory. Kind of like cabooses on freight trains which Dudley also misses. Tomorrow, Lizzie and the friends she is staying with in Seattle are flying out to Las Vegas for a short vacation. Lizzie has never been there before and it should be a lot of fun. She would have a lot more fun if she was old enough to gamble but she will have to wait on that. She should have a lot of fun going to see some shows, eating good food and spending time at the swimming pool. She said they may take a side trip out to see Hoover Dam as well. I hope she does as it is an impressive site. When Dudley went to Las Vegas years ago on a company trip, Dudley rode a tour bus out to Hoover dam then went to a local airport and boarded a plane for a trip to the Grand Canyon. It was a lot of fun seeing both the Grand Canyon and Hoover dam from the air.

Dudley Was Pissed Off After Watching The News ...

this evening. Around lunchtime today, a female UPS driver was delivering packages to a local apartment complex when she was approached by a man who from all accounts must have been under the influence of illegal drugs of some kind. The woman told him to please leave her alone and let her do her job. He then proceeded to knock her to the ground and started stabbing her in the back repeatedly with a knife. The Fort Worth Police arrived and confronted the suspect who was wielding the bloody knife. Two officers ordered him to drop the knife, he refused and a female officer then fired her taser at the suspect. The suspect then attacked the officer and her partner then fired several shots stopping any further attack. The officer received minor injuries and the UPS driver and suspect both were rushed to area hospitals in critical condition. Come to find out the suspect is a refugee from Sudan. He is one of the "Lost Boys" who fled across a desert as young boys to escape a civil war in their native country. Then some church with the best of intentions brought them here and our government in their infinite wisdom provides them with a home to live in, food and medical care at tax payer expense. When will the American people wake up and demand a stop to such misguided though well intended programs. They are recipes for disaster. People like that have about as much chance of successfully assimilating here as Dudley would have if he woke up one morning in the middle of Africa. I hope that poor UPS driver recovers. This really burns Dudley up that there are people in this country that seem intent on destroying it. Just a few days ago, Frank went to the door to sign for a package he had ordered and it was delivered by a female UPS driver. It very well may have been the lady that is now fighting for her life. Something needs to be done in this country about the immigration problem, both legal and illegal. God help us if we continue on the path we are on.

Dudley Has Not Felt Like Doing Anything Much ...

the last few days. The most constructive thing Dudley did yesterday was watch the Rangers baseball game. The Rangers won so that was good and what made it even better is that the Angels finally lost a game. Hopefully the Rangers will win tonight against Detroit. Lizzie called today and Dudley enjoyed talking to her about some more pictures she sent of a trip she took to a waterfall and to an island near Seattle. Dudley will post some of the photos in the next few days. We have been getting some rain showers here at the Dudley domicile which is a welcome diversion this time of year. A cold front came through and the high temperature was only around eighty degrees if you can believe that. It is usually around one hundred degrees this time of the year. Foxy normally stays inside with Dudley in the AC but it has been so nice outside, she has stayed out most of the day. She better enjoy it while she can, there is a lot of summer here left in North Texas and it will be one hundred plus degrees before long. You know what they say about Texas weather, if you don't like it just wait a few days, it will surely change.

Frank Went To The Ranger Game Tonight ...

and just got home a few minutes ago. Dudley watched the game on tv and was glad to see the Rangers sweep the Boston Red Sox. The Rangers have a four game winning streak going. They have an off day tomorrow and then fly up to Kansas City to play the Royals. Frank worked today mowing and took off work a little early to come home and take a shower before he left for the ballpark. When he came in the door, Dudley was sitting at the computer wearing his bathrobe. Dudley was surprised to see Frank was followed by a nineteen year old girl. Thanks a lot son for the heads up. Dudley talked to her while Frank took a shower. She seemed like a nice girl, she graduated from my sons high school the year after he did. She was a cheerleader when Frank played high school football. She went to A&M last year and is going back in the fall. Frank has paid off all of his debt and is going to the local junior college this fall. I hope he is ready to get serious about his studies and his future. He is going to need to make a lot of money some day so he can take me on some guided hunting and fishing trips. I have taken him on several and he needs to return the favor.

Dudley Woke Up This Morning To A Second ...

rainy day. We got over an inch of rain yesterday which is a blessing this time of year. It has not rained that much today but maybe we will get some more. Dudley stayed up late last night and got up way to early this morning. Dudley thinks he will go back to sleep for a few more hours. Just one of the benefits of an early retirement.

Where This Country Is Headed ...

You May Think This Is A Fairy Tale, Got It From Sparky ...

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and their will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that person known as "The One". He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to save you. My lack of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my association with evil doers are of no consequence. For I shall save you with Hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the land that he who preceded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, and that all he has built must be destroyed." And the people rejoiced, for even though they knew not what "The One" would do, he had promised that it was good; and they believed. And "The One" said "We live in the greatest country in the world. Help me change everything about it!"And the people said, "Hallelujah! Change is good!" Then He said, "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats." And the people said "Sock it to them!" "And redistribute their wealth." And the people said, "Show us the money!" And then He said, "Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody" And Joe the plumber asked, "Are you kidding me? You're going to steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??" And "The One" ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized. One lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist policy?" And she was banished from the kingdom! Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with radical terrorists?" And "The One" said, "Simple. I shall sit with them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!" And the people said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons into free cars for the people!" Then "The One" said, "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes." And one, lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes." So "The One" said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!" And the people said, "Hallelujah!! Show us the money!"Then "The One" said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!" And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed. And He said, "I shall mandate employer- funded health care for EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every person unlimited health care and medicine and transportation to the clinics." And the people said, "Give me some of that!" Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas." And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?" Then "The One" said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will skyrocket!" And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates." So "The One" said, "Not to worry.. If your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over!"Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty,Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..." And the people said, "Hallelujah!!" And they made him King! And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support. Then "The One" said, "I am the "The One" - The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have enough!" But our foreign trading partners said unto Him, "Wait a minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more..." And the people said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!" And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?" But yea verily, it was too late. The people set upon "The One" and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built. And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish, "Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too late, and their homeland was no more. You may think this is a fairy tale, but it's not. It's happening RIGHT NOW !!!

Do Not Think For A Minute This Could Not Happen ...

Forty Years Ago Today, Dudley Sat In Front ...

of his grandmothers television set watching spellbound as he heard those enduring words from Neil Armstrong " That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind" as he set foot on the moon. Dudley was ten years old in 1969 and being an eager spectator of the space race up to that time in his life truly believed anything was possible. Four decades later, the world looks a lot different to Dudley than it did back then. Life has been harder at times than Dudley could ever have imagined but the hard times have been offset by the good times in Dudley's life where everything Dudley wanted seemed to come all to easily. One of the hardest lessons Dudley had to learn was that sometimes hard work and giving everything one has to give is not good enough. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, what matters in the end is that we dreamed, and we strived, and we gave it all we had.

Dudley Went And Bought A New Vacuum Cleaner ...

today to try and keep the Dudley Domicile a little cleaner. Our old vacuum cleaner crapped out some time ago and we have been trying to get by with a broom and a dust mop. Dudley's entire house is carpet free with the exception of a hall closet. The rest of the floor coverings are hardwood floors in the bedrooms, and laminate flooring in the hall and living room and tile floors in the den, entryway, kitchen, laundry room and both bathrooms. Dudley decided to bite the bullet and shell out the big bucks for a Dyson DC 25 All Floors Ball Model Vacuum Cleaner. Dudley's wife was proud of him obtaining a coupon for a full twenty percent off of any one item at a local store. The coupon knocked the price down from $499.99 to $399.99 plus tax. Dudley saved a total of $108.25 on the deal. Dudley's wife is a big fan of clipping coupons for the grocery shopping. The savings add up over time which helps with the budget. Dudley took Frank with him to tote the thing out to the truck and in to the house. The machine itself only weighs 16.5 lbs but it was bulky and packed securely in a big cardboard box. Dudley unpacked the thing and put it together. After dinner (homemade tacos) we tried it out and ended up vacuuming the whole house. Tomorrow, Dudley is going to try out the cleaning wand and attachments and give all of his mounted deer heads and wild boar hog a good cleaning. It will take all day to do it as I will have to do one and then sit down and rest a while. When your lungs are only functioning at thirty something percent of normal, you get tired pretty easily. We have a total of five ceiling fans that could all use a cleaning as well. The best thing about this vacuum is that there are no bags. It has a canister that you remove by pressing a button and you just hold it over a trash can and push a release lever and it pops open and your shake out the dust and debris. I think we are going to like this machine and it is covered with a five year warranty. It has two washable filters and should keep the dust down and help with Dudley's allergies.

Dudley Saw This Sidewalk Surfboard On Ebay ...

the other day. They were wanting $150.00 for it which is ridiculous but who knows they may get it. When Dudley was a small child, he remembers well going to the local Fedmart in Wichita Falls with his sister and we each got to pick out one of these. Those skateboards were made right here in Fort Worth by Nash Manufacturing. My memory is not clear as to which color skateboard I chose. I think we had a blue and green version. They also came in yellow, red and orange I believe. We had a lot of fun playing with those skateboards and surfing on the concrete patio behind this house or on the sidewalks out front. Those skateboards had metal wheels which worked really good until as I learned one day the hard way, one of them comes into contact with a small rock as you are flying down the sidewalk at full speed. Dudley got a lesson in physics that day when he was hauling ass down the sidewalk and the skateboard came to an immediate stop after hitting a pebble. Dudley stopped a few seconds later after falling face first onto the concrete sidewalk. The details of exactly what happened after that are sketchy but I think I did manage to knock out one or more of my front teeth. The only good thing was they were baby teeth so I got some new ones after a time. That wasn't the first time Dudley did something like that. A few years before when I was a toddler, I opened up a lower dresser drawer and climbed up on it and somehow managed to pull the thing down on top of my face. From what I understand that brought about a trip to the emergency room where an oral surgeon put the teeth back into place. If he had known I was going to knock them out again a few years later he could have just saved himself the trouble. It is a wonder Dudley has made it to 50 years of age. Just lucky I guess.

Dudley Went To See His Neurologist Today ...

over in Arlington. Dudley went into the office a little perturbed as the doctor has been telling Dudley for an entire year that he is going to refer him for DNA (genetic testing) to see if he may be suffering from Pompe disease. Dudley asked the doctor why this has not been set up and completed by now. Dudley tried to pin him down but it is hard to get a straight answer. There is a new drug that has been proven to stop the progression of this disease in it's tracks. He did say that the FDA has stopped any further use of the drug until at least the end of the year. He said the drug is approved and used in Europe. I tried to pin the doctor down as to his guess as to my having this disease as opposed to the other forty something kinds of muscular dystrophy's. He said that given my history there is a good chance I have this disease. I reminded the doctor that given the rate I am losing my mobility, time is a critical concern. He assured me he understands and will try to get this set up. The testing is going to cost in excess of $5000.00 and I do not know if it will be covered by insurance and MDA or possibly just MDA. He made a follow up appointment for three months this time instead of the usual six months. Hopefully I will hear something before then. I told him I have been having a lot of problems with my allergies and congestion which is making it difficult to breath properly at night. He is going to get me a heated humidifier for my breathing machine and he is also referring me to an allergy doctor. The doctor plugged the smart card out of my breathing machine into his computer and looked at the results and said it looked like the machine was doing its job. I told him it must be as I am still here.

Lizzie Called Tonight To Tell Me About The Game ...

She had a great time despite the Rangers losing. Lizzie sat next to the wife of the Rangers first baseman, Hank Blalock. He hit a two run homer late in the game and that was no doubt an exciting moment. Dudley is glad to see Lizzie is having a good time on her Seattle vacation. We all miss her though and will be glad to see her when she returns home.

Lizzie Went To The Baseball Game Today ...

up in Seattle at Safeco Field. The game is currently tied 3 to 3 in the 7th inning. I sure hope the Rangers can pull off the win. Lizzie called me at the start of the game and said they had good seats twenty one rows up from the field behind home plate. She said they rode a train to the ball field. Dudley is so jealous, two of my favorite things, baseball and trains all in one day! I am happy for her and glad to see she is having such a good time. At the start of the game, the temperature was 63 degrees. If the game were being played here in Texas, the temperature at the start would be closer to 103 degrees. Dudley is going to go watch the end of the game. Go Rangers!
