When Dudley Is Gone From This World ...

He has made it clear that he wishes to be cremated. He has told Frank He wants half his ashes put up on a hill in East TX where Dudley had a new deer stand. He killed one of his most memorable bucks on opening morning in 1982 up on that hill. Afterwards Dudley and Sparky loaded the buck, an old narly 8 Point Neches River Bottom buck onto the bed of Sparky's Green Ford Pickup. We went to town and pulled up on the town square in front of the Barber Shop. Before we had hardly opened the doors, the Barber Shop emptied. The Barber and ten or more guys came out and surrounded the rear of the truck to see what Sparky had to show off. Sparky was known as one of the best deer hunters in the area and he had the run of 150 acres of overgrown former East TX farmland. Everyone was congratulating Sparky on another big buck. Dudley did not say a word and Sparky then let the crowd know that Dudley had bagged the buck. Dudley spent many a day in that deer stand up on the hill on a powerline right of way. Saw many beautiful sunrises and sunsets from that special place.  Dudley wants the other half of of his ashes spread on the water/shoreline of Sam Rayburn Reservoir across and a little north of Shirley Creek Marina. When Dudley was a freshman in College he kept his twelve foot Terry Bass Boat in a slip there. Dudley wants half of his ashes placed where he caught the biggest Largemouth Bass of his life. Another great memory Dudley has of special times spent doing something he loved in God's Great Outdoors!
