Frank Went Fishing Yesterday Evening ...

at a local lake. He went out in his kayak and paddled up towards the dam. He was hoping to catch some sandbass or a hybrid striper or a Largemouth bass. While he was casting to the rocky banks, he noticed a disturbance in the open water and paddled out to see what was going on. He got out there and saw that something was pushing tons of baby gizzard shad to the surface. The water looked like it was in a blender in places. Frank took a pretty cool video of the action but the file was too big to send in a message. He threw several kinds of lures into the fray but did not get any strikes. He was throwing a rattletrap and managed to snag hook some of shad. He used his head and downsized and started throwing a Little George tail spinner type lure. It was closer to the size of the bait fish. He fished and fished chasing the baitfish around for over an hour and did not get one strike. It was frustrating to say the least. He did get to get out for a couple of hours, and enjoy God's great outdoors, breath the fresh air and get some exercise. A cold front came through earlier and it had cooled down quite a bit and Frank enjoyed the cooler weather. We got a bunch of rain Saturday and when the creek goes back down and clears up, Frank can do some fall creek fishing with his fly rod.

Comments:
Geez, I hope he didn't let Lizzie see that picture! She'll never let him live it down.

"Say, big brother, how large was that shad you caught again?"

She saw it and got a good laugh, she said it was not nearly as big as the striper she caught on the Brazos River last summer.
