Dudley Finally Got The Call He Has Been Waiting For ...

from the deer processor. Our venison is ready to be picked up! Frank and I are going to go pick it up on Saturday. It will be good to get out of the big city for a while and take a nice long drive out in the country. Hopefully with any luck, we will be eating fried venison steaks for dinner Saturday night!

Comments:
Did you have some of it made into those sticks with the bits of cheese in them? I love those!

Man, I envy you those deer. Failed to get mine this year. (But I did get almost 20 lbs of chop meat, steaks, jerky, hot dogs and salami from a very, very generous acquaintance. He said something about 15 doe permits for his farm--to prevent crop damage.)

Terri, we are getting some summer sausage sticks, I don't know if they have cheese in them or not.

Joated, I wish you would have gotten a deer but at least you got some venison from your friend. Next year ask your friend if you can come hunt on his farm and use a couple of those doe permits.

That will make a good addition to your larder, Dudley. Venison is good to eat, and good for you. There's a sense of accomplishment in obtaining it that you can't get in virtually any other way, as well.

You are right Hermit, venison is better than beef health wise. Just don't tell my wife how much the venision ended up costing per pound, would have been cheaper to go to the grocery store and purchase beef.
