I'm old enough to remember the real Route 66. It was better than freeways.
 
Hermit, the old highways and biways had so much more character than the modern day interstates. I remember vacations when I was a small child from Texas to New Mexico and seeing the Burma Shave signs, rattlesnake farms, souvineer shops, motels and cafes up and down the two lane highways. Those were the good old days!
