Tarantula Steam Train In Fort Worth

We have ridden this train more than once. It is a great train which normally runs between Fort Worth and Grapevine, Texas. They have a cool old round table they use at the Stock Yards Station to turn the locomotive around. One year we rode a special steam passenger train trip from Fort Worth to Granbury and back It was in the spring and the wild flowers were in bloom. The Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes were spectacular. Lady Bird would have been proud. I rode the train down to Granbury and my kids and wife met me at the Granbury Depot and she rode the train back to Fort Worth and the kids and I met her back at Stockyards Station. Granbury has a wonderful old depot they have restored and the town of Granbury has a beautiful courthouse. They have a neat old jail with a hanging tower which I understand was never used. How you could build an indoor gallows and not use it is beyond me. The town square looks much as it did 100 years ago and there are numerous antique shops, restaurants, a museum, and a restored opera house on or near the square. Granbury was built on the bluffs overlooking the Brazos River which was dammed years later to form Lake Granbury.
