Dudley Ordered Some Mayhaw Jelly The Other Day ...

Dudley had never head of a Mayhaw tree until reading about them in the book about the canoe trip down the Neches River. Mayhaw trees only grow in the Southeastern United States down in the wetland areas surrounding creek and river areas of the region. In the spring the trees bear a small red fruit that ripens during the month of May. People in these low lying areas have been harvesting them for generations to make a tasty jelly or syrup. Dudley read where they taste like a crab apple. Dudley has never eaten a crab apple so it remains to be seen if Dudley will like this or not. Dudley is a picky eater with very selective taste buds. Dudley does like to eat apples, strawberries and cherries and they are red. Hopefully, Dudley will find this jelly to be to his liking. A cold front blew in late last night early this morning. We got some more rain which delayed Franks job with the lawn service. He is supposed to go by the feed store this afternoon and buy some seed and fertilizer to take to East Texas to plant a cover crop down at his grandfather's farm. He may end up working late so he may have to postpone his trip to the feed store and East Texas until Saturday morning.
