Cotton Belt SLSW No. 678 Train At The Sulphur Springs Depot On A Snowy February Day In 1948 ...
Two of Dudleys Great Grand Parents on his mother's side lived in Sulphur Springs. That is the family home. Pretty sure that is Dudleys Maternal Grandmother and Great Aunt in front of the house. Don't know who the third kid is. Photo was taken between 35 and 40 years before the picture at the Depot. Dudleys Great Grandparents owned a music store in Sulphur Springs. They took a big financial hit during the Depression when they paid the debts they owed but a lot of the people that owed them money defaulted. Happened to a lot of honest business people during those times. Interesting that there is snow in both pictures. It does not snow very often in Texas!

If they show up the next couple of days Frank will probably shoot one for the BBQ Pit/Smoker. Frank's cousin has a live trap out. Hope he can catch a few. The herd needs to be reduced. Difficult to do by hunting alone. Difficult to do even with trapping!

Galveston Island Texas Fishing Tours ...
Mike Williams Of Tarpon Express Guide Service Is A Texas Legend .,.
Dudley and wife fished with Mike over thirty years ago. We did an inshore trip. Caught quite a few Speckled Sea Trout and had a great time. We fished in Galveston Bay and then Mike trailered his Robalo boat down to San Luis Pass and we caught several species of fish. Mackerel and Sheepshead are the ones I remember. Dudley hooked a trophy sized trout free lining a live shrimp. Put up a good fight until it broke the line. It took another 20 years but we made it back down to Galveston in 2007. The second time we went offshore with Mike in his Boston Whaler. This time the kids were fishing. We didn't jump any Tarpon fishing off Rollover Pass 7 miles out but the kids both caught big Blacktip Sharks up to 130 pounds! It was another day to remember fishing with a Texas Legend!

One time decades ago Dudley was crappie fishing inside a dimly lit boathouse. A large Beaver had swum into the boathouse unbeknownst to Dudley and was just a few feet away when he slapped his tail on the water. Scared the S%#T out of Dudley LOL!
