A Caricature Of Dudleys Late Stepfather ...

Howard D Rector. It was done by a young Marine on a troop ship crossing the Pacific enroute to the islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa during WWII. My stepfather was in the Army and was the Commanding Officer of a unit of soldiers that installed and ran Radar Stations on higher ground to search for Japanese aircraft. The artists name was Bernie Gallegher. It is not known if Bernie was killed in action or survived the war. The Marines suffered large numbers of casualties. Dudley searched the Internet to try and find out what happened to the artist but was unable to confirm Bernies fate.
