Old Neon Signs Part Three ...

Frank Went Fishing Yesterday Afternoon Over At ...

the 3,500 acre lake near where we live. He went out in his kayak and managed to catch one small freshwater drum. He was trying to catch some sand bass but was unable to find any. He finally had to get off the water when the wind started picking up. Surprised he did not get run off by the jet skis and the power boats this time of year. Frank went back to work early this morning. I have heard from Dudleys daughter, she and the wife are still down in Cozumel having the time of their lives. She said her and her friend Melissa went snorkeling at a coral reef Saturday and saw some fish. She said they ate dinner at the resort they are staying at. She said she got to practice her High School Spanish. I hope she did not say anything by mistake that could harm US/Mexican relations. Yesterday, her and Melissa paid a bunch of dinero to go swimming with the dolphins. I bet that was fun, you know Dudley always enjoyed watching Flipper when he was a small child. Dudley needs to get up away from the computer and go take a shower and get dressed. He has to go to the bank and get some papers notarized and then go to the post office, eat lunch and then it is off to DFW airport to pick up the world travelers. Dudley would just as soon go have another root canal as to drive up to the airport. The traffic is terrible up there on the freeways and in the air. Dudley remembers going out to DFW one night late back in 1975 with one of his friends. This was right after getting our drivers licenses and was the first time Dudley had seen the airport. It was and still is an impressive sight but one I would just as soon not see anymore if I can help it.

Old Neon Signs Part Two ...

A Week Ago, Frank And Three Friends ...

went to a local municipal golf course and played a round of golf. Frank has not played golf in a few years. I was glad to see him dust his clubs off and give it a try. He did not break 100 but he was not the only one. I think one of his friends shot a 97. They rented a couple of carts which was probably a good idea as the temperature was pushing 100 degrees. Frank said a good time was had by all. Dudley played a little golf growing up but was never very good at it. The last time Dudley played was in college. After that when Dudley got a little free time from work, he tried to spend it out on the lake in his boat fishing or out in a deer stand hunting. Fishing and hunting were Dudleys favorite past times, to him it was a lot more fun and productive than chasing a little white ball around with a stick trying to knock it into a hole. Fried venison steaks or catfish or crappie are hard to beat.

Some Old Neon Signs In And Around Fort Worth ...

where Dudley lives. The old signs were like individual works of art in many cases. So much more interesting than the signs around most businesses today which all look pretty much the same and are dull in comparison. I am going to be posting quite a few of these in the coming days. I hope there are others that appreciate these old signs and looking back in the past and wondering how things were back then.

I Finally Heard From My Daughter Last Night ...

about 8 PM. I got a text message from her saying they made it down there ok. She said there was a long delay going through customs at the Mexican Airport. She said it was gay. I am sure they are having a wonderful time on the beach. I haven't seen any pictures of the trip but I can imagine Lizzie and her best friend Melissa are doing something like this about now.

Dudley Has Tried To Get Some Word From Wife And Daughter ...

saying that they arrived in Cozumel safely. No response so far to my phone calls or text messages. Dudley can only hope that they made it ok and are having a great time. I am sure they are down there some where.

Dudleys Wife And Daughter And Her Best Friend ...

are in Cozumel Mexico by now. They got up at 4 AM to get up and get ready to make it to the DFW airport for a 7 AM flight. I got a couple of text messages from the wife letting me know they got on the plane about 5 minutes before 7 and were preparing to take off. I do know Dudleys daughter got a window seat which was great news. This is the first time Dudleys 16 year old daughter has flown anywhere and I so wanted her to be able to look out the window during her flight. One of Dudleys wife's college roommates who lives in Houston is going on the trip as well. She is meeting them down there. She is a retired school teacher and is now a travel agent so I bet they will get top notch service on this trip. I hope they have a good time. I hope Dudleys daughter will go para sailing while she is down there. Dudley always wanted to give that a try but missed his one chance at doing so. You can read about that adventure here if you like. I hope she gets to go snorkeling and spends some time at the beach. I just hope she remembers to wear plenty of sunscreen as her red hair and lilly white skin do not need to much exposure to the sun. I heard something yesterday about her and her friend wanting to go swimming with the dolphins while in Cozumel. I think para sailing would be safer, I remember what happened to Hank Hill when he tried that.

This Is Johnsons Ranch, Another Great Old Fishing Camp On Caddo Lake ...

This Is A Great Old Fishing Camp On Caddo Lake ...

called Crip's Camp. It is located in Uncertain Texas on Goose Prairie Drive. This is my kind of place. They have a huge covered boathouse where you can rent a jon boat with a small outboard motor, two life jackets and a paddle for a reasonable price for the day. This is a throw back to a simpler time. Back in the old days, you could go to any lake in the state and find a similar fishing camp with cabins and small boats and motors for rent. Sadly the old time fishing camps have all but disappeared every where except for Caddo Lake. Some how my crippled old ass can sleep better at night knowing there are still one or two fishing camps still in operation.
